COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARD TO BE PRESENTED <br /> <br />AROUND THE CITY <br /> <br />Alternative Education Fair at Eugene Public Library <br />Parents, teens, and kids: drop in to the Downtown Eugene Public Library on <br />Saturday, Jan. 26, between 1 and 4 p.m. for the annual Alternative Education Fair. <br />Admission is free. <br /> <br />The fair is a great opportunity to learn about alternative education programs in <br />Eugene and Lane County. Find displays and representatives from more than a <br />dozen local private schools, charter schools, Eugene District 4-J alternative <br />programs, and home schooling organizations, plus other educational resources <br />available through the Eugene Public Library’s online Info Hub, including <br />homeschooling information and the homework center. <br /> <br />This event is co-sponsored by the Eugene Public Library and the Eugene Waldorf School. For more information, contact the <br />Eugene Public Library at 541-682-8316 or www.eugene-or.gov/library. <br /> <br />City Booth Promotes Ways to Outsmart Waste <br />The City of Eugene and Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) are teaming up to promote ways to “outsmart waste” at the <br />Good Earth Home, Garden and Living Show, scheduled at the Lane County Fairgrounds Jan. 18 - 20. The City’s booth, <br />hosted by the Stormwater Education and Waste Prevention and Green <br />Building programs, will highlight tips for preventing waste and <br />pollution during home projects such as remodeling and construction, <br />pressure washing, painting and yard care. EWEB’s booth, featuring <br />steps to reduce energy waste, will be located across the aisle. Stop by <br />to learn about how to reuse and recycle construction materials, keep <br />paint, pesticides and other pollutants out of our waterways and enter <br />a drawing for fun prizes. <br /> <br />For stormwater-related questions or information, contact Stormwater <br />Information Specialist Kathy Eva in Public Works Administration at <br />541-682-2739 or kathy.a.eva@ci.eugene.or.us, or go to <br />www.happyrivers.org.
