The class is provided in partnership with Snowboarding Outreach
Society, a values-based, youth development, nonprofit that builds character and self-
esteem in youth through programs that offer outdoor adventure and leadership
development.

The class does not require any prior experience or gear. All participants receive
professional instruction, equipment rental, lift tickets, transportation, and, if needed,
outerwear. The class is designed to help students overcome fears and discover new
possibilities. The next three-day session will be Feb. 24, and March 3 and 10. For more
information, call Roger Bailey at 541-682-5329.

Learn About “Branding Your Non-Profit” at Eugene Public Library
The Downtown Eugene Public Library will host a talk on “Branding Your Non-Profit” on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m. The
presenter is Tim Armstrong, director of the Non-Profit Management Institute at Lane Community College’s Small Business
Development Center. Admission is free.

Armstrong will explain how to create a mission-based identity for a nonprofit. In today's
competitive fund raising environment, being a top-of-the-mind “brand” can be a huge
advantage. American households donate to three to six charities annually on average, but each
household gives the most to a favorite charity. Get tips on how to make a personal favorite
nonprofit, the favorite for others.

This talk is sponsored by the Eugene Public Library, Non-Profit Management Institute at Lane
Community College’s Small Business Development Center, Friends of Eugene Public Library and
Eugene Public Library Foundation. For more information, contact the Eugene Public Library at
541-682-5450 or www.eugene-or.gov/library.

EUGENE CITY COUNCIL NEWSLETTER PAGE 1
February 7, 2013
