School Enrollment
School enrollment captures the individuals
who report being enrolled in a school.
A school is considered an educational
institution which advances a person
towards an elementary school certificate,
high school diploma, or college, university,
or professional school (such as law or
medicine) degree. A significant portion of
our neighborhood is enrolled in school at any
given time and schools are important assets
in our neighborhood. What does school
enrollment tell us about the needs and
lifestyles of neighbors? What opportunities
exist in our neighborhood for collaboration
with educational institutions?
Educational Attainment
River Road Community Organization - School
Enrollment
Kindergarten I 1.7%
Grades 1 -4
5.0%
Grades 5 -8 3.5%
Grades 9 -12 5.3%
College Undergraduate Program 7.9%
Graduate or professional school 1.9%
Data: U.S. Census ACS 2005 -09, Table 14002
Educational attainment refers to the highest level of education that an individual has completed.
This is distinct from the level of schooling that an individual is attending. Educational attainment
is often correlated with economic prosperity and because of this, can offer a glimpse into
the neighborhood's current and future housing and development needs. In what ways might
educational attainment influence the priorities and needs of neighborhood residents?
River Road Community Organization - School Completed
30%
25% I— — –
`w
0
0
c 20%
m
m
v
T
Ln
r 15% —
O
26% 26%
3
O
O
CL 10% — 22%
5%
10%
8%
2%
0% 3%
3%
1%
0%
No Nurseryto 9th to 11th
12th, no High school
Some
Some
Associate's
Master's or Doctorate
schooling 8th
diploma graduate,
college, less
college, 1 or
or
Professional degree
completed
GED, or
than 1 year
more years,
Bachelor's
School
alternative
no degree
degree
degree
Data: U.S. Census ACS 2005 -09, Table 15002
City of Eugene Neighborhood Services – 2011 Neighborhood Analysis – River Road Community Organization 05
