City of Eugene City Hall Complex Master Plan
Community Forum #1-Questionnaire Responses

. Public meeting spaces, information kiosks. No poorly run, poorly attended cafes. Go
patronize downtown cafes.
. All departments, at least the main offices, housed there.
. Plaza, information desk and friendly personnel.
. All of the above and wheelchair accessibility to all corners of the City Hall, including
restrooms.
. Outdoor space, some flexible meeting/conference space.
. Keep it to City Hall government functions. Let private sector benefit from doing business
around City Hall.
. Farmer's market.
. Meeting space, food service of some sort, outdoor civic streets, and connections to
downtown civic/public spaces. Separate police patrol building with patrol parking in
some form within walking distance-Police Consolidation Option C.
. Plaza, meeting space.
. Free and large public meeting space, but it does not need to be part of City Hall at all;
anywhere in central Eugene is fine.
. Public meeting space (larger than Harris Hall).
. Public meeting place with HOH/deaf accessibility in form of assistive listening devices.
. Educational showcases of energy efficient design.
. Public meeting space.
. Move public open space and transit orientation, better places to congregate-integrate
with Saturday Market. Muti-use sustainable.
. Public meeting space, no food and beverage service, info center (not necessarily kiosk), a
public plaza is not vital; there is one at the County building and the park blocks are very
close.
. (1) Formal public entrance, in correlation to and in combination with: a formal public
aesthetic. (2) Retention of and reference to the current council chambers (3) Ample staff
amenities. (4 ) Welcoming public interior amenities: plazas, food or beverage service,
public meeting space, information kiosks; information staffing.
. A park or greenway.
. Unimportant-other than public rest rooms.
. Yes-all of the above. Important to maximize public contact with City Hall as city
government.
. Open space that is inviting to the public.
. Kiosk not necessary at the City Manager's office.
. Clear directions to services.
. A realization that the people are the government, such as the plaque states inside the City
Council chambers.
. Food would be nice, public meeting space is an excellent idea. Keep a place for the
ducks.
. Public seating areas, creation of a village green, and ambiance that allows for easy access
to the business activities.
. Bare bones, low cost, keep taxes down.
. Encourage plazas, food, or beverage service to be just outside.
. Meeting spaces.

The JD White Company, Inc.

Page 5

April 2006
