<br />Campbell Community Center Volunteers to Be Honored
<br />Marv and Mary Krenk, volunteers at the City of Eugene’s Campbell Community Center, are among nine
<br />inspirational people, ages 69 - 92, who will be honored by the Lane County Coalition of Senior Programs
<br />in recognition of National Older Americans Month in May. Marv and Mary, ages 89 and 86 respectively,
<br />teach folk dancing at Campbell Center and perform in a group called “The Ageless International Folk
<br />Dancers.” The Krenks, along with the other honorees, pursue active lifestyles through their retirement
<br />years and exemplify this year’s theme, In Motion After 60.

<br />Older Americans will account for an increasingly significant portion of the population in years to come
<br />and are living well as they age by following three basic principles: maintaining a healthy diet, exercising,
<br />and staying actively involved.

<br />The Lane County Coalition of Senior Programs selected the Krenks and seven other individuals who
<br />demonstrate that anyone can get in shape and stay in shape at any age. The coalition will recognize the
<br />honorees at a ceremony unveiling the 2006 “In Motion After 60” poster on Thursday, May 18, from 4 – 5
<br />p.m. at the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street, Springfield. The poster will feature a
<br />photo of each of the honorees.

<br />City Information Booths Included at Earth Day Celebration This Weekend

<br />The 7 annual Earth Day Celebration being held this Saturday, April 22, at EWEB’s River Edge Plaza
<br />will feature a host of displays and activities with a focus on sustainability. It’s a great opportunity for
<br />people to discover why Eugene is recognized as the #1 “Green City” in the nation. Staff from several City
<br />of Eugene programs will be on hand to share information with attendees.

<br /> A display with information on cleaning cars the river-smart way will be presented by staff from the
<br />Public Works Stormwater Management Program. Attendees can pick up a complimentary felt
<br />chamois, the latest issue of Stormwater Connections, and other handouts.

<br /> The City of Eugene Solid Waste and Recycling program will host a compost information booth to
<br />educate attendees about the importance of diverting food waste through backyard composting.
