March 9, 2006

Eugene Planning Commission
99 West 10th Avenue
Eugene, Oregon 97401

Re: Support for renaming 3rd/4th Connector

Dear Members of the Planning Commission:

With the various historical landmarks around Skinner's Butte and the City's recent road improvements
which pass in front of the Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House, it is appropriate that this street, which is
being called the 3rd/4th connector, should bear a name befitting of Eugene's historic past. Dr. Shelton was
one of the original pioneers to arrive in Oregon back in 1846, moved to Eugene in 1873 and became deeply
involved in the social and economic life of Eugene. A person ofms stature should be acknowledged with a
street designation that is located in the area of Eugene that he helped to develop.

Therefore, I support the proposal that the 3rd/4th Connector bear the name Shelton Boulevard in honor of "
Dr. Shelton.

Sincerely,

~~

Albert B.
