That year they built the first reservoir on Skinner Butte. <br /> <br />Shelton was known for his public spirit, being greatly involved in the social and economic <br />life of Eugene during the last quarter of the 19th Century. His impact on the fabric of <br />early Eugene was comparable to that of that other early pioneer, Eugene Skinner. <br /> <br />It would be a fitting tribute to this truly great Eugene Pioneer to name the street <br />directly south of the land he once owned for this early community doctor, T.
