The development of this park as .it stands, is at least tWenty. years away right.. now, being a class 5 priority, thflt is completely unacceptable with the . community of bethel aIld other community residents. Golden garden park, as it stands right now, is nothing more than a hazard and eyesore to the residents of this community. . In the last ten years, it has taken"the~ws of at least four of our up coming citizens. Four young boys have downed in this so called park, just because they went for a walk to the park, as all children do. Its supposed to be a pleasant and safe experience for kids to have a place to go and enjoy the wonders of the outdoors. Not this place, it's a watery grave, waiting to take its next victim. If left in its present state, It will Shirley be the reaper of anotper child. There needs to be a.design and impact study done on this city proposed park right away, which I understand would cost around 30,000. ~ems like that is nothing to pay to start the process of saving the life of one ~'our maybe up coming community leaders. The population in this area of Eugene is growing at one of the fastest rates in the whole city, everyone, seems to agree on that. One knows that it is going to continue to grow and we Ipannot wait till the 12th hr, before deciding we need a park. There is additional land now available around the park that the city of Eugene needs to try and acquire or least have an option to insure that the need of future expansion is available. This issue has been brought to the attention of the city counsel ~everal tiInes over the years and just seems to be pushed back evelY time its brought up, now it is time the city step up and take the responsibility of supporting and doing what they said they would do. when they aquired these death traps, and named them a park.
