To, Mayor Piercy and members or city council:

My name is Brandon McGinnis; I am an 8th grader at Prairie Mountain School. I

am writing this to address the matter of the Golden Garden Ponds.

Over the last 12 years 4 boys have drown in the ponds and another previous to that. The

area is unsafe and shouldn't be called a "park". A park is a place for people to play, and

have fun. The ponds are not a park. To keep the Golden Garden Ponds the way they are

now is like asking for more people to die. The ponds must be made safer. I don't see how

you can put this matter on the back burner. Ever day you don't do something about the

ponds is a day someone could die.

There are so many ways we can make the ponds safer. Our 8th grade class got

together and made a list of over 30 things our school and the state could do to improve

the ponds; for example our class could do the fallowing

-start by putting up sings that tell people how dangerous the ponds are and put a

memorial around the ponds

-plant a large garden and put down saw dust for trails

-clean the area

The fallowing are things the state could do for the ponds.

-build a playground

-put up fencing

-inform the people how dangerous the ponds are
1.'\
\~j
