CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION: Harris Hall
A. COMMITTEE REPORTS
The Mayor and councilors reported on events and committee meetings including:
- State of the City event
- Harlow Serves holiday initiative
- Activity related to 955 Coburg Rd.
- Upcoming MLK Celebration activities and events
- Eugene Police Department promotion ceremony
- Civic Stadium - looking for support to purchase and rehab the property and stadium
- Connect Oregon 5 projects
- Animal problems - turkeys, deer and feral cats
- Trainsong Neighbors response to rest stop
- Options for reconstruction of Beltline between Coburg and River roads
B. WORK SESSION: Budget Discussion on Council Policy Items
Central Services Executive Director Kristie Hammitt introduced the item with a brief PowerPoint
presentation.
MOTION and VOTE: Councilor Zelenka, seconded by Councilor Brown, moved to
consider eliminating downtown free parking and dedicating the revenues that the
general fund services generate in FY15, and ask the City Manager to bring back
information and estimated revenue for further Council action. FAILED 3:5,
Councilors Zelenka, Syrett and Brown in favor.
MOTION and VOTE: Councilor Brown, seconded by Councilor Clark moved to not
drop from consideration the idea of considering General Obligation bonds for capital
improvements. FAILED 4:5, Councilors Syrett, Clark, Evans and Brown in favor;
Mayor broke tie in opposition.
