FUN SHOWS FOR KIDS AT EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY
AROUND THE CITY
“Know What’s Safe” Focus of Home Show Booth
A showcase display booth at the Lane County Spring Home & Garden Show will highlight product safety for children, pets,
the environment and personal health. The booth is in Expo Hall 3 at the Home Show. This well-attended event often has an
attendance of over 18,000 people and is
a great way to interact with community
members. The home show runs Mar. 12 -
15 at the Lane Events Center. For the

This will be the seventh year that an
interactive booth, created and staffed by
the Lane Pollution Prevention Coalition
(Lane P2C) will be featured in the Expo
Hall. Lane P2C is an interagency group
that works together to share information
and inform and educate residents about
pollution prevention tips. These agencies
include the City of Eugene’s Stormwater
and Wastewater Management programs,
City of Springfield Environmental
Services, Department of Environmental
Quality, Lane County Public Works
Recycling and Household Hazardous
Waste programs, Springfield Utility Board, Lane Regional Air Protection Agency, and Eugene Water & Electric Board. The
City’s Stormwater Management Program focuses on a commitment to protect local waterways while promoting
environmental stewardship.
Many products are potentially toxic when used incorrectly. Understanding “signal” words such as caution, warning, and
danger can help residents make safer choices when purchasing and using products. In addition, proper disposal is
important with yard, automotive and cleaning products, pharmaceuticals and more.
The information station will have handouts on safer product choices, disposal options and a range of other relevant topics.
Staff from partner agencies will be available to answer questions. Booth visitors who spin the wheel of knowledge will have
the option of entering a drawing with multiple prizes donated by local businesses and several agencies.

Fun Shows for Kids at Eugene Public Library
Kids and their grown-ups are invited to entertaining and educational shows at all locations of the Eugene Public Library
this month – and they’re free!
On Sunday, Mar. 15, at 2:30 p.m., the Downtown Library will host "Juba This and Juba That," a
lively audience-participation show by professional storyteller Chetter Galloway (pictured at
left). He performs African and African-American folktales including amazing animal
adventures, clever trickster tales, and stories of courage, wisdom, and perseverance.
During spring break, jump into fun at “The Boogie Woogie Puppet Show.” Rock, stomp, sing,
and dance along with puppeteer Penny Walter and friends on Tuesday, Mar. 24, at 1 and 3
p.m., at the Downtown Library; Saturday, Mar. 28, at 11 a.m., at Sheldon Branch; or Saturday,
Mar. 28, at 2 p.m., at Bethel Branch.
