CELEBRATE NATURE AT EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Public Works Day - Thursday, May 21
In conjunction with National Public Works Week, the City of Eugene is again hosting its annual Public Works Day event
from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, at the Roosevelt Yard, 1820 Roosevelt Boulevard.
A new record - more than 2,100 children and adults – are signed up
to attend this popular event. The yearly event showcases Eugene
Public Works and the efforts the department makes every day on
behalf of the citizens of Eugene.
This fun-filled day will feature a variety of activities and equipment
displays to engage children. Tour guides, including Mayor Kitty
Piercy, will help classes navigate the yard and connect with Public
Works staff who can educate children and adults alike.
Parking is easy for employees who wish to attend. Fire Station 2 will have a continuous shuttle to and from the yard. For
those not driving, LTD is offering a free shuttle from the downtown Eugene station to the yard and back every half hour.

Celebrate Nature at Eugene Public Library
On Tuesday, May 26, at 6 p.m., the Downtown Eugene Public Library will host “Nature and the Art of Celebration,” a
multimedia presentation by Eric Alan combining photos, music, and more. Admission is free.
Alan has designed “Nature and the Art of Celebration” to create a feeling of
meditative beauty and calm. He explains, "Reconnecting to nature, even in
urban settings, can return a sense of peace and of being well-grounded to
our daily lives. Looking closely at the details of our world with a conscious
goal of celebrating them can also heighten our positive experience.”
Eric Alan is an author, photographer, and KLCC radio host. This
presentation draws from his books "Wild Grace: Nature as a Spiritual Path"
and "Grace and Tranquility," and from his work with National Geographic
photographer Dewitt Jones on the website Celebrate What's Right With the
World.
