Learn Cyber Security Online
Learn how to be protected from scams and stay safe online! Come to a free talk on “Cyber Security” on Tuesday, Aug. 11,
at 6 p.m., at the Bethel Branch of the Eugene Public Library, or on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m., at the Sheldon Branch.
Expert Pam Simon of Fidgets2Widgets will share crucial information about
passwords, privacy, and protection from cyber-crimes, including scams. No
device is required, but participants are encouraged to bring a tablet, phone, or
other mobile device.
The Bethel Branch of the Eugene Public Library is located at 1990 Echo Hollow
Road. The Sheldon Branch is located at 1566 Coburg Road. For more information,

Mayor’s Bold Steps Award Application Process Open
Eugene-based businesses certified by BRING's RE:think Business program can now apply for
the Mayor's annual Bold Steps Award. The Bold Steps Award recognizes businesses that
embody a triple-bottom-line approach to sustainability, balancing the needs of people and the
planet with prosperity. Applications are due Tuesday, Sept. 15, and can be accessed at
www.eugene-or.gov/boldsteps.
ThermoFisher Scientific was awarded the 2015 Bold Steps Award by Mayor Kitty Piercy at
Eugene’s State of the City event on Jan. 7, 2015. The other finalists for the award were Café
Yumm! and Essex General Construction. As the winner, ThermoFisher Scientific took the Bold
Steps trophy back to their place of business to display for the year and received free print
marketing, as well as a 90-second video promoting their sustainable operations.
