ISSUE STATEMENT
This is a special meeting of the City Council to meet with the recruiter leading the search process for the
city manager. The primary focus of this meeting will be the discussion of the feedback and comments
from community members on the profile and qualifications for candidates.
A recruitment brochure will be drafted based upon this discussion with Bob Neher, a principal of the
executive recruitment firm of Bennett Yarger.
BACKGROUND
Comments and feedback from the public were solicited during the Eugene Celebration, at a special
community forum held on September 17, 2007, and in a number of targeted interviews. This information
in addition to that gleaned from interviews of each councilor and the Mayor will be used to finalize the
recruitment materials and strategies.
If possible within the time constraints, a summary of comments provided at the September 17, 2007,
community forum will be provided at the meeting on September 18.
