CITY PARTNERS WITH NEDCO AND FERTILAB TO OFFER MICRO-ENTERPRISE CLASSES
AROUND THE CITY
City Partners with NEDCO and FertiLab to Offer Micro-Enterprise Classes
The City of Eugene has partnered with Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation (NEDCO) and FertiLab, a
local nonprofit business incubator, to help aspiring small business owners get the information and skills they need to
succeed through micro-enterprise classes. The upcoming micro-enterprise classes provide entrepreneurs the resources
they need to develop a business, create sustainable incomes, and lay the foundation for future job creation. The focus of
the classes will be to help micro-entrepreneurs start, stabilize or grow an existing micro-enterprise. The course is
comprised of four, two-hour classes, coupled with unlimited access to one-on-one business coaching. The course will be
free of charge to Eugene residents of low to moderate income.
The first session of classes will be held on Tuesdays, Apr. 5 through 26, and a second session will be held on Thursdays,
Jun. 2 through 23. Participants can register through NEDCO online at www.nedcocdc.org or by phone at 541-345-7106.
Classes will cover topics such as:
Business Concept and Plan Development
Competitive Analysis
Marketing Strategy and Branding Identity
Understanding Financial Statements
Business Tax Considerations
Legal Entity Types and Legal Considerations
Micro-enterprises can help community members become more economically self-sufficient or earn extra income to
supplement household income. These small businesses promote the unique character of the community, help diversify
the local workforce, and contribute to the local economy through job creation.
City of Eugene business programs provide financing opportunities to underserved segments of Eugene’s business
community. Programs include the Business Development Fund, Downtown Revitalization Loan Program, and Arts &
