ISSUE STATEMENT
Lane County Board of Commissioners Chair Faye Stewart will lead a discussion of the County’s current
budget environment and the work being done there to address potential cuts in services and programs.
BACKGROUND
At a joint meeting of the Eugene City Council, Springfield City Council and Lane County Board of
Commissioners on February 12, 2008, the three jurisdictions discussed shared jurisdictional priorities,
including the impact of budget cuts on public safety and health and human services currently provided
by the County. The council expressed an interest in learning more about Lane County’s budget process.
On February 28, 2008, the council received information from Commissioner Stewart about the FY08-09
Lane County General Fund services prioritization and budget impacts on health and human services.
RELATED CITY POLICIES
Significant budget cuts at Lane County could be felt region-wide and may have an effect on City
priorities and budgetary decisions.
