ORDINANCE 8693
An Ordinance limiting the area to be oovered by buildings in multiple family
residence districts, apartment house districts and single family residence districts,
as defined in-the zoning ordinance no. 8413, and repealing Ordinance No. 8625, and
declaring a penalty.
t+VHEREAS, the crowding of buildings upon lots constitutes a fire hazard, and
in apartment house districts and multiple faiaily residence districts, result in the
automobiles of occupants being stored upon the streets of the city,
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOVi~S:
Section 1. In all single family residence zones, the building or buildings
including accessory buildings shall not occupy to exceed 30 per cent of the area
of the owner's lot, for an interior lot, and shall not.oceupy to exceed 40 per
cent for a corner lot.
Section 2. In all multiple family residence districts and in all apartment
house districts no l~lore than 60 per cent of the area or lot shall be covered by
the building or buildings, including accessory buildings, and excluding garages
in both interior and corner lots.
Section 3. That Ordinance No;. 8625 passed by the Common Council on the
13th day of November, 1939 and approved by the Mayor on the 16th day of November,
1939, be and the same is hereby repealed.
Section 4. Any person, firm or corporation violating or failing to comply
with any of the provisions of the foregoing ordinance shall, upon conviction before
the City Recorder, be subject to a fine of not more than X200.00 and for the costs
of the prosecution, and may be imprisoned one day for each X2.00 of the fine unpaid
