HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE NO. 8749194 ORDINANCE N0. 8749 An Ordinance amending Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8265, entitled, "An Ordinance providing for the disposal of garbage, defining garbage, providing regulations for the manner of disposal, prices to be charged, requiring a license' and bond, and generally regulating the collection and removal of garbage in the City of Eugene, repealing former ordinances and declaring an emergency," and passe by the Common Council and approved by the Mayor on August 24, 1931. TIE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLO~~1S: Section 1. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8265 entitled, "An Ordinance providing for the disposal of garbage, defining garbage, providing regulations for the manner of disposal, prices to be charged, requiring a license and bond, and generally regulating the collection and removal of garbage in the City of Eugene, repealing former ordinances and declaring an emergency," passed by the Common Council and approved by the Mayor on August 24, 1931, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 4. Any person, firm or corporation desiring to engage in the business of hauling garbage upon the streets of the City of Eugene shall first make application to the City Recorder for a license, and shall tender with such application a bond in the sum of 500.00 with sufficinet sureties, satisfactory to the Recorder conditioned that such applicant shall in all respects comply with the laws, ordinances and regulations of the City of Eugene, and shall, coincidentally with tge making of such application, pay the first quarter of an annual license fee of 80.00 which license fee shall be payable in four installments in advance of each quarter, and the City Recorder shall thereupon issue to such person, firm or corporation a license to haul garbage in the City of =ugene, which license shall continue in force (unless forfeited otherwise) until and as long as the license fee shall be paid in advance of each quarter, provided however, that any licensed garbage hauler may appropriate edible garbage for feeding purposes to his own use by paying an additional annual license fee of X200.00 to be payable in four installments in advance of each quarter." Scetion 2. WHEREAS the maintainanee of the City Dump Ground for garbage in the City of Eugene is a matter affecting the health of the City, in that any deterioration may give rise to epidemics, and the amendment in the Ordinance make provision for the better care of the garbage of the City, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and it is a necessary provision of the peace, health, and safe to the City of~Fugene that this Ordinance take effect immediately upon its passag by the Common Council and its approval by the Mayor, and it is so ordered.
