HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE NO. 8752I ins -- - -- -- - ~ ORDINANCE N0. 8752 ~I An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 8749 passed by the Common Council on the 29th day of June, 1942, and approved by the N~ayor on the 30th day of June, 1942, which ordinance amended _,Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8265. THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOt,~dS: Section 1. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 8265 entitled "An Ordinance providing for the disposal of garbage defining garbage, providing regulations for the manner of disposal, prices to be charged, requiring a license and bond, and generally regulating the collection and removal of garbage in the City of Eugene, repealing former ordinances and declaring an emergency" passed by the Common Council an approved by the Mayor on august 24, I93I, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 4. Any person, firm, or corporation desiring to engage in the business of hauling garbage upon the streets of the City of Eugene shall first make application to the City Recorder for a license, and shall tender with such application a bond in the sum of X500.00 with sufficient sureties, satisfactory to the Recorder conditioned that such applicant shall in all respects comply with the laws, ordinances and regulations of the City of Eugene, with respect to hauling and disposal of garbage in the City of Eugene, and shall, coincidentally with the making of such application, pay the first quarter of an annual license fee of X80.00 which license fee shall be payable in four installments in advance of each quarter, and the City Recorder shall thereupon issue to such person, firm or corporation a license to haul garbage in the City of Eugene, which license shall continue in force unless forfeited otherwise, until and as long as the license fee shall be paid in advance of each quarter, provided however, that any licensed garbage hauler may appropriate edible garbage for feeding purposes to his own use, by paying an additional annual license fee of 100.00 to be payable in four installments in advance of each quarter." ' Section 2. V~HEREAS, the maintenance of the City Dump Ground for garbage in the City of Eugene, is a matter affecting the health of the City, in that any deteriorations may give rise to epidemics, and the amendment in the Ordinance makes provisions for the better care of the garbage of the City, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and it is necessary for the protection of the peace, health and safety of the City of Eugene that this Ordinance take effect immediately upon its passage by the Common Council and its approval by the Mayor, and it is so ordered.
