~i Ordinance to vacate a certair. street in the City of Eugene.
WHEREAS, An inspection has been had of that certain portion of Taylor street from
Fourteenth Avenue North to the property line of the Seventh-Day Adventist School, and it is
deemed by the Council that the street is of no particular value, and that it is dangerous and
difficult.to maintain and that it should be vacated.
and Whereas, the street being a public way has no City liens, no taxes, and

Commission of the City of Eugene,
Therefore,
THE CITY OF EUGEA?E DOES ORt7AIId AS FOLLOWS;
Section 1. The Common Council of the City of Eugene hereby initiates vacattior. pro
ceedings on its awn authority, without petition or consent of the property owners, except-
ing as provided by statute, of the following described street in the City of Eugene, to-wits
That portion of Taylor street from I.l~th avenue north to the property line
of the Seventh-Day Adventist school,
reserving to the City the right t o enter, construct and maintain all sewers, water pipes
and public utilities.
Section 2. A hearing shall be held upon the proposal to vacate the street, as herein
provided, and said hearing shall be held on the 9th day of July, 191+5, at the Council
Chambers of the City Hall in Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, at 7:30 otclock P.M. of said day,
at which time all persons will be heard upon objections or suggestions with reference to
the vacation of said street, and at said time the Council will provide for the said vacation.

Section 3. The City Recorder be and he is hereby required to immediately publish for
four consecutive weeks in a newspaper published in Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, notice of
the proposed vacation. Such notice shall give the description of the street to be vacated
as hereinset out, and state the date w'rien this ordinance was passed; the name of arty petit-
ioners petitioning for said vacation; the date when the said petition, together with any
objection or remonstrances which may be made in writing and filed with the City Recorder
prior to the date of said hearing will be heard and considered. -
Section 1~. The City Pecorder shall forthwith and within five days after the first
publication of said notice, post or cause to be posted at or near each end of said proposed
vacation, a copy of the foregoing notice, which shall be headed "P~otice of Street Vacation",
and which notice shall be posted in at least two conspicuous places in such proposed vacation
area.
The posting acid the first day of publication of such notice shall not be less than
twenty-eight days bafore the time set for hearing.

Section 5. Whereas, the said street constitutes public property which the City of
Eugene is responsible for, and
Whereas, the said street is dangerous and difficult to maintain and it is to :the best
interest of the-City that it be placed back in provate ownership where the City will no
longer have responsibility for its being kept in a safe condition, now
u erefore, it is necessary that the street be closed at once and an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, health
and safety of the City of Eugene that this ordinance take effect immediately upon its passage.
