ORDINANCE N0. 8832
An Ordinance adopting the survey, plat and report of the City Engineer as to the
proposed opening of Eighth Avenue West from Chambers Street to Garfield Street, Eugene,
Oregon.
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.. That the survey, plat and report of the City Engineer upon the pro-
posed opening of Eighth Avenue West from Chambers Street to Garfield Street, Eugene, Oregon
made and filed by him with the City Recorder on June 8, 1915, pursuant to the resolution
of the Common Council of the City, passed on February 12, 191x.5, is deemed satisfactory
and is hereby adopted as so made in the words and figures following, to-wits

Beginning at a point at the intersection of the Center line of EigYith Avenue if
extended with the West lice of Chambers Street, said point being 30 feet west of the
Northwest corner of the James Huddleston Donation Land Claim No. 37, thence west 109.39 feet,
thence North 30 feet, thence East 109.39 feet, thence south 30 feet to the place of
beginning; containin g 3,291.7 square feet.

eginniag at a point on the center line of Eighth Avenue west, extended 190 feet
west of the Nort~est corner of the James Huddleston Donation Land Claim No. 37, thenoe

extended and the west line of Chambers street, said point being 30 feet west of the north
west oorner of the James Huddleston Donation Land Claim No. 37, thence west 121$.7. feet,
thenoe south 30 feet, thence east 1216.7.feet, thence north along the west line of Chaur
bars street 30 feet to the place of beginning; containing 36,502.20 square feet.
Section 2. That to open and establish said alley, it will be neoessary to acquire
the land as shoevn by said report and the City of Eugene does hereby determine to acquire
said land mentioned and described in said report for the purpose of opening of the alley
between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue west from west line of Hallock Addition to Gar-
field street, Eugene, Oregon.
Secti on ~j. That ~filliam R. Robertson, James A. Rodman, Sr., and F. M. Cashman
three disinterested free-holders of the City of Eugene and each possessing the qualifica
tions of 3urorsoof the Circuit Court of Lane County, Oregon, are appointed as viewers to
view such proposed alley and make an assessment of the damages and benefits as provided
in Section !~ of Chapter ~ of the Charter of the City of Eugene.
Section L~.. That said viewers are directed to meet on the 27th day of Jun®, 19iLF5,
at 9s30 o'clock A.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Ball in the City of Eugene, and
the City Recorder is directed to cause a'notice to property owners by publication for at
Ieast ten days successively prior to the said day assigned for said viewers to meet in a
newspaper published in the City of Eugene, giving the names of and the time and place app=
ointed for them to meet and specifying with convenient certainity the boundaries, termini,
or other description of said proposed alley, and the boundaries or other description of
the parcels of private property to be appropriated for said purpose.
Section 5. That the City Recorder. is directed to send by mail postpaid, a copy of
each nitiee to each of the property owners whose property is proposed to be appropraated
or to the agent of such owner where the postoffice address of .such owner or agent is known
to him, and if such postoffice address is unknown to him, then such notice shall be directed
to such owner or agent at Eugene,•Oregon, as provided in Section 3 of Chapter ~ of the
Charter of the City of Eugene. .
Section b. That it is neoessary for the convenience of the citisens of the City
of Eugene, that said alley be opened and extended and.an emergency is therefore declared
to exist, and it is therefore deolared to exist, and it is therefore de8~ared.to be for
the immediate preservation of the peace, health and safety of the City of Eugene that this
Ordinance become effective immediately upon its passage by the Common Council and approval
by the'Mayor.
