An Ordinance authorizing the making o£ a Dump Tender's contract.
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS r~LLONiS:
Section 1. The l4Tayor and City u~ianager of the City of Eugene be and they
are hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of
Eugene, that certain garbage contract with the Sanitary L'river's Association, a
copy of which is hereto attached and made a part of this ordinance.
CONTRACT
THIS CONTRACT AND AGREEII9ENT, made. and entered into this 1st day of July, A.D.
1g1.~6, by and between the City of Eugene, a. municipal corporation, party of the first
part, and the Sanitary Driver's association, parties of the second part;
Z'VITNE S SETH:
WHEREAS the City of Eugene maintains a garbage dump oxx px•operty owned by the
City, South of the City limits, :sid;
FJrTEREAS the contract of the former holder with the !City to operate and maintain
the garbage dump has expired as of June 30, the City's fiscal ,year commences on July 1,
19+6;
Therefore it is agreed between the parties hereto that the parties of the
second part shall care for the City's garbage dump in a sanitary and workmanlike
manner, complying with all laws and ordinances applicable thereto for a term of one
year, commencing July 1, 191..6, and terminating June 30, 19t~7. The party of the second
part further agrees that all paper and other inflsm~nable materials brought to the dump
for disposal shall be burned, and all other garbage shall be disposed of in a proper
manner as to reduce obnoxious odors and health hazards to a minimum.
It is agreed that the City shall pay to the parties of the second Fs.rt One
Hundred Twenty Five Dollars ($125.00) on the first day of each month commencing August
I, 1916, for the term of this contract, together with such fees that may have been
collected the previous month for special dumping permits as provided by City ordinance.
It is further agreed that such payment bj. the City of Eugene shall constitute in full
its financial obligation for operation of the City 'Dump. The parties of the second
part agree to pay any and all additional costs necessary to properly maintain the
dumping grounds, excepting the cost of road planking, which cost shall be borne by
the City.
The Second parties agree to keep the garbage dump open and accessible from
eight o'clock in the morning until six o'clock in the afternoon of every day except
Ivew Year's Day, P2emorial Day, July 1.~th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas and
Sundays, and that on said days the garbage dump shall be closed except as special
arrangements shall be made between the parties of the second part ar_d those persons
desiring service on i;his day.

It is further agreed that the parties of the second part shall retE.in the
previlege of segregating and disposing of any or all salvage material brought to the
dump grounds, but such salvage operations shall ba incidental to the operation and
maintenance of t}~e dump grounds, and suci~ grounds shall be kept clea.r~ of e.ecumulations
of salvage materials, allowing free access to and from the grounds by refuse haulers
at all times.

ed by its l+2ayor and Manager pursuant to ar. ordinance of the Common Council of said
City, and the second ~ rties have hereunto sut~scribed their names this first day of
July, A.D., 19l~6.
