AN ORDINANCE initiating the vacation of the following described premises,
to-wits
The platted alley extending East and nest through Block 20, Chambers
Addition to the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, bounded by the West
line of Garfield Street and the East line of Arthur Street in said City of
Eugene; and calling a hearing therefor and directing that notice thereof be
given
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Seetior. 1. Tyre Common Council of the City of Eugene hereby initiates
vacation proceedings on its own authority without petition or consent of the property
owners, excepting as provided by statute, of tie following described property, to-wit:
The platted alley extending East and West through Block 20, Chambers
Addition to the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, bounded by the West line
of Garfield Street and the East line of Arthur Street in said City of Eugene.
Section 2. A hearing shall be held upon the proposal to vacate the said
alley as herein provided and said hearing shall be had on the 1l~th day of October,
1g1~6, at the Counoil Chambers iii the City Hall in Eugene, Oregon, at 7:30 o~clock
P.Q., of said day, at which time alI persons will be heard' upon ob3eetions or sug-~
gestions with refere~iee to the vacation of said alley and at said time the Council
will provide for the vacation of said premises or deny said vacation, and in case
the vacation is made, will make provision for any damages sustained by local assess
meat.
Seotion 3. The City Recorder be and he is hereby required to immediately
publish for four consecutive weeks in a newspaper published at Eugene, bane County,
Oregon, the newspaper selected by him, being hereby designa;~ed as the official newsQ
paper of the City for this purpose, notice of the proposed vacation. Such notice
shall give the description of the area to be vacated as herein sat out and state
the date when this Ordinance was passed; the names, of any petitioners petitioning
for said vacation and the date when the said petition, togetYier with any objections
or remonstrances which may be made in writing and filed with said Recorder prior to
the date of said hearing, will be heard and considered.
Section 1,~. The City Recorder be and he is hereby directed to forthwith
and within five days after the first publication of said notice, post or cause to
be posted at or near each end of said proposed vacation area a copy of the foregoing
directed notice which shall be headed, "Notice of Alley Vacation," and a copy of
which notice whall also.be posted in at least two conspicuous places in such pro'
posed vacation of such area. The posting and first day of publication of such notice
shall he nat less than 28 days before the time set for hearing.
