ORDINANCE N0. 8983
An Ordinance adopting a schedule of charges for services
rendered in the removal of garbage, as directed by
Ordinance No. 8970 ,
THE CITY OF EUC,ENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. (a) Residences;
That the schedule annexed hereto and immediately following be and the same is
hereby adopted as a schedule of charges and compensation to be exacted for the ser-
vices rendered by licensed garbage haulers in the City of Eugene, as required by
Ordinance No. 8970 .

The above schedule of prices applies to single container collection on
regular pickup schedule from any part of the City for the container sizes and
pickup frequencies indicated.

The above schedule of prices applies to collections of more than one
container on regular pickup schedules from any part of the City for the size
indicated and the pickup frequencies shown.
(b) Conunercial;
The rates for coQrmiercial services shall be reasonable and uniform,
taking into consideration the services rendered, and shall be fixed from time to
time by agreement b3tween the licensed garbage haulor and the person being served,
provided, however, that any rate and compensation so fixed shall be subject to
review and arbitration by the Garbage Board as provided in Ordinance No. 8970
aforesaid.
Section 2. The charges and compensation set forth immediately above
shall be effective commencing tivith the month of February, 191.i.7, and shall be the
prevailing charge for the respective services rendered until modified or than ged by the

Common Council of the City of Eugene, provided, however, that until January 31, 19L.~8,

licensed garbage haulers may charge and collect a surcharge of 15~ (x.15} on each pickup
under the foregoing base price per month schedule.
Section 3• Whereas, persons are hauling garbage within the City of Eugene
at and for unreasonable charges and compensation, and that such charges throughout
the City are not uniform and are injurious to the inhabitants of the City of Eugene,
and inasmuch as the provisions of this Ordinance are necessary for the innnediate
preservation of the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of said City of
Eugene, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall be in
full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the Common Council and its
approval by the Mayor of the City of Eugene. "
