THREADED FI'I'TIl`IGS: (a) P7_ain screvred fittings for use with wrought ~~ i ~ iron or steel pipe vents may be of cast iron, or of galvanized iron, of standard weights ~~ and dimensions. (b) Screwed drainage fittings for use on soil waste, or leaders shall be of the recessed drainage type, with smooth interior. waterway, and with threads tapped out of solid metal. (c) All screwed fittings on water supply pipes shall be either brass or malleable . (d) All malleable iron fittings shall be galvanized. (e) American Stand- and pipe thread shall be used on all threaded fittings. Sect3_on 18. FLOOR FLANGES FC?R V~TATER%~CL05ET5. Floor flanges for water-closets shall be not less than three-sixteenths of an inch thic}:, if of brass. If of cast iron, flanges shall be full 3/II inch thick, drilled and .tapped for 1/l~, inch threaded brass rod. ARTICLE 5. Section 9. Slipjoints are permitted on either side of traps if not concealed. Unions on the s ewer side of traps shall be ground and faced, and shall not be concealed. Section 11, CONPIECTIONS V~TITH TOILETS SLOP SIPIKS. Every toilet, slop sink, pedestal urinal or similar fixture hsving a trap outlet above the floor shall be securely connected to the soil or waste pipe by a heavy flange of either brass or iron. The flange shall be securely fastened to the soil or waste pipe by a caulked, screvred or soldered joint and the future connected to the f]_ange by means of dravrn brass bolts tapped into the flange of a diameter of not less than one-quarter (4) of one (1) inch. The joint betvyeen tkie fix- ture and the flange shall be made gas and vratertight by means of asbestos, graphite gaskets •~ ~, or with putty paste. The use of rubber washers for arty such connection is expressly for- I _ j bidden. The foregoing provisions, hovrever, shall not be taken as prohibiting in such joints the use of metal to metal connection or of a screw connection. 1~lall toilets shall be ~ exer~ipted from the provisions of this section, but shall be connected by and vrith approved I wall toilet hangers and connections. Section 12. INCREASERS ATm REJUCF,FtS. 1TThere different sizes of pipe or pipes and fit- s zings are to be connected, proper size tapered increasers or reducers, shall be used. Section 15. P1EP1 D,3ATERIALS. The enumeration or specification of certain materials and practices in this ordinance shall be interpreted as approvirig other materials and practices not enumerated acid specified herein which are proved by scientific tests .or by experience to be the subs tantia.l equivalent of the requirements of this code . Any other material than that specified in this code, vrhich proper administrative authority approves as being equally efficient, may be permitted. ARTICLE 11 Section 1. P1IATERIAL. All main or branch soil and vraste pipes within the building shall be off' cast iron, lead or galvanized wrought or steel pipe, except that no galvanized steel or wrought iron pipe shall be used for underground soil or vraste pipes or in building over ~ four stories in height . 1 1 1 ~~ Section 2. All main or branch vent pipes within the building or structure shall be of-cast iron, lead, galvanized wrought or steel pipe, except that no wrought iron or steel pipe shall be used for vent pipe below the ground or basement floor level, or in buildings over four stories in height. - ARTICLE 12 Section 3. CO^:PTECTIOAJS +dITH SEPTIC TAPdKS. mien a sevrer is not available, drain pipes from buildings shall be connected vrith septic tank of approved design. Section 1~. IJA?IFORP~2 VERTICkL b^tASTES AP?D VEPJTS FOR HIGH BUILUII~1rS. A vertical soil 1 stack or waste pipe and vent stack or vent pipe of uniform diameter may be used in a high building; of four {I~) or more stories =i.n height, provided the fixtures connected thereto be located on floors irimediately above each other. The vent shall be con- nected to the soil stack or vraste pipe by the means of a ~~Y!~ fitting, placed belovr the waste opening for the lowest fixture, the vertical vraste and vent p~.pes shall be extended full size through the roof; or be connected together at least six (6) inches above the r•im of the highest fixtures. The minimum diameter of a vertical vent when serving six (6) unit fixtures shall not be less than three (3) inches in diameter in a building not over seven (7) stories in height and four (1t) inches in diameter in a building over seven (7) stories in height. All offsets or changes in direction in vertical stacks or wastes in high buildings as provided for in this section shall be constructed and installed in a manner so as to have not less than aforty-five (!~5) degree angle. Vlhen a vertical waste pipe line smaller than four !u) inches in diameter, serves fixtures on four (L~) or more floors, then the horizontal line extending from the bass of the waste pipe line to the building drain or soil stack, shall be in- creased to the next size larger. All soil, vraste and vent pipes i.n buildings over four stories in height, shall be of cast iron pipe, or lead pipe. For the number of fixture units permitted on uniform vertical waste and, vent, see the table in Article 12, Section 8. Section 7. P:~'~TERIAL. (a) The house sevrer beginning 5 feet outside of the inner face of the building wall shall be of cast iron or other approved materials; (b) The house drain when undergrol~nd shall be of lead or cast iron; (c) The house drain when above ground shall be of cast iron, galvanized wrought iron or steel, or lead. ARTICLE 17 1 Section 3. 1TJherever water flush toilets are installed outside the sewer district the vrastes from such toilets shall be discharged into an approved 500 gallon septic tank provided vrith adequate facilities for the disposal underground of all effluent from the septic tank, via sub-surface irrigation.
