RESOLUTION NO. 4505
A RESOLUTION NAMING THE BROADW A YI WILLAMETTE PLAZA.
The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that:
A. At an election held on May 16, 1995, the electors of the City approved the reopening
of Willamette Street between 8th Avenue and 1 Oth Avenue to vehicular traffic.
B. Subsequent to that approval the City commenced construction activities to reopen
Willamette Street in accordance with an approved development plan. One component of that plan
consists of the development of a plaza at the intersection of Broadway and Willamette Street.
Because of the interest generated by the design of the plaza, the City and downtown businesses
solicited suggestions from citizens on a name for the plaza.
C. The City Council has considered the names proposed, and after discussion thereof,
by majority vote has selected the name of Broadway Plaza.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, a
Municipal Corporation of the State of Oregon, as follows:
Section 1. The City Council hereby approves and adopts Broadway Plaza as the designation
for the plaza located at the intersection of Broadway and Willamette Street within the City of
Eugene.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to cause appropriate signage to be placed in or
near the plaza identifying its designation.
The foregoing Resolution adopted the 28th day of October, 1996.
