RESOLUTION NO. 5184
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING ALLOCATION OF $6,000,000 IN
LOTTERY BACKED BOND FUNDS TO THE EUGENE CIVIC
ALLIANCE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A COMMUNITY SPORTS AND
RECREATION FACILITYON THE FORMER CIVIC STADIUM
PROPERTY.
The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that:
A.
The City Council of the City of Eugene recognizes the value of physical
education and recreation for the children and community at large in the Eugene-Springfield area.
B.
The City Council supports the development of community sports and recreation
facilities that are accessible to all.
C.
The City Council recognizes the educational and economic benefits of community
sports and recreation facilities.
D.
The City Council has supported the Eugene Civic Alliance in its efforts to
redevelop the 10.2 acre site of the former Civic Stadium into a community sports and recreation
venue by facilitating purchase of the property and by retaining ownership of parts of the property
for a city park and multi-use path.
E.
The Eugene Civic Alliance has presented plans, including schematic design and
construction budget,for the development of the 10.2 acre property into a community sports and
recreation facilityas shown in Exhibits A and B attached to this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, a
Municipal Corporation of the State of Oregon, as follows:
Section 1
.The City Council supports the allocation in 2017 by the Oregon legislature of
$6,000,000 in lottery backed bond funds to the Eugene Civic Alliance dedicated to the capital
construction project of redeveloping the 10.2 acre site of the former Civic Stadium into a
community sports and recreation facility,as shown in Exhibits A and B attached to this
Resolution, provided that the current video lottery proceeds for local economic development are
maintained.
Section 2
.The City Council directs the City Manager to send a copy of this Resolution
to Governor Kate Brown and the local State legislative delegation.
