There were 'pre se'nt C oUnci lmen V/ashburne, Large, Lamb McCully, Monroe, and Reid; absent, Courlcilmen Rugh and Hendershott. Mr Lindsay called the attention of the CouncIl to the condition of the Storm Sewer at 15th and Washington Streets' intersection, as not properly t,aking care of surface livater, causing the same to overflovi into the basement of an adjacent house. The i11a.tter was referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report at the next Council meeting. Mr. Washburne reported for the Fire & Water Committee, a:.:recommendation as. to installation of water hydrants in Sunset Terrace Addition, and moved that one, two, or three new hydrants be installed in this Addition under the direction of the Engineer and Fire Dept?.rtment at such points as they direct. Motion was seconded and carried. The following b,ids for the construction of a sanitary Sewer on the East side of Potter Street from 24th Avenue toc22nd Avenue, under Ordinance No. 7331, were read: I H~rgreaves & Lindsay Oscar Snow Stien Bros. Hall in accordance with his bid, subject to the entering upon proper contrac and furnishing proper bond the r-efor. City Attorney S. M. Calkins, recommended that the claim of Bertha Near for injuries received on the Streets of the City of Eugene be settled by IB.yment to her, the sum o~ $60.00, which she has agreed to accepts in settlement of her cfuaim, ancl t hat a war ran t be drawn in he I' favor for s ai d sUin, and tha t the City Ree order bi 11 the Central Rea ting Co. for the same a aunt, it appearing tha t the accident was c211sed by failure of said Compnay to properly protect the excavation made by them. A motion was made, seconded and carrie d to adopt the report of the Ci ty Attorney. Mr. Calkins was granted until the next meeting of the Council to report regarding the Rar'mon taxes. Eugene Water Board, light at Franklin Boulevard 15.00. Bill of Lane County against the City of Eugene for work on Hellen S.treet by L. P. Harmon, 1928, $3858.47, one mlf of which was to be paid by the City of Eugene amounting to $1929.23, it being understood that this bill has already been paid to the County thro-ugh process of deduction by the COUilty Treasurer of this amount from the amount turned over by the County Treas- urer to the CH'T in collected taxes, and that this claim is p,res8n<ited to the City Courwil as official ratification of that adjustment of this accoUilt.
