I -j ., -t,":"tt Minutes of the regular meeting of the Common Council, held at the hour of e,'~ 7:30 o'clock P. M., on October 14,1929, There were present the l\1ayor and all members of the Council, except Simon. Meeting called to order by the Mayor. :;;c ~ Honorable F. M. Wilkins, Chairman of the Park Board, appeared before the C") Council and recommended that the Council purchase a car for IIII'. Parker, Park Super in tenden t, and also recoffiL'Tlended thati an addi tional ten acres in the City Park be fenced. The tract proposed to be fenced lies above the barn and around to the South and West below the park roadway. 1~. Wilkins estimated the cost of this fenc eat ;~200. This mat ter was laid over for two weeks. ],'[.r.. Wi lkins also urged the Council to not cu t the parldng limi ts to less than one hour on City streets. Mr. Dinty Moore urged the Council to provide parking space for bicycles and to re q,u ire them to use lights on their bicycle s for their own protection. The judiciary committee reportedbae1c a proposed ordinance relating to the sale of elec trl cal appliance s, and upon tiheir re commenda t ion the same was placed on file. The finanee committee submitted the following report: Report of Finance Committee. To the Ron. Ma~{or and Cornmon Council: Your Finance Committee has careful}.l,r considered the matter of submitting to the people a proposed relief tax .measure, and has given studied attention to the report submitted by Mr. Tour toll e t t e:. a c c oun t an t . While there is much ground for submitting to the voters a measure providing for the larger amount sugge sted I i in his report, namely $43,500.00, your committee believes that it would be I: I' " difficul t to secure the passage of an amendment for so large a sum. " :1 We believe relief from the present cielinq,uent int erest situation is Impera- ti ve, and that the amount pro po sed by the resolution heretofore adopted by the Council, name l,y :;p25, 000.00, is more likely to recei ve the approval of the voters, and that if this measure is adopted, and along with it a careful consideration of budget req,uirements is exercised, and a continued and. consistent effort made to collect delinq,uent assessments, a long stiep forward in the solution of this problem wi 11 be accompli shed.
