Minutes of the Regular meeting of the Common Council held at the hour of :,t,ro 7:30 o'clock P. M. on November 12, 1929. Council was called to order by Mayor f~ Wilder, and all councilmen present except Washburne, Reid, and Hendershott. As per the call, the following bids were received for sidewalk construction: Ordinance No. 7568 Peter A. Nelson 37.60 - approved Said bids were referred to the Street Committee for report, and such committee recommended those bids be accepted after which the word "approved" is written as to each ordinance number. On motion, such. report was adopted. The Health Committee was on request granted further time for the preparation of the meat inspection ordinance. At the request of the Police committee, City Attorney Calkins discussed the situation as to the County and City Dog licenses, stating that the City had the 'absolute right to license dogs within the City. , Councilman Hendershott appeared in Council at this time. Mr. Beard, representing the citizens traffic committee, read and submitted the committee's report on parking regulations. On motion, the recoD~endations of said report were accepted by the Council and ordered embodied in a traffic ordinance. Building Inspector Rundlett's report for October was read and placed on file. The Recorder was instructed to write a letter to the City Health Officer requesting him to file a monthly report. I A communication from the Lane County Dog Control Board, suggesting cooperation with the County in the collection of dog taxes, was read and placed on file. 0 Requests of Minnie Ellens to operate a rooming house at 57f.r West Sixth Avenue and Frank Dav~s to conduct the McKenzie Hotel at 32 West 8th Street, both approved by the Chief of Police, were on motion granted. The City Planning Commission recommended that the Council do not accept the deed to land for street purposes tendered by Mrs. Kyburz. On motion the recommenda tion was adopted. An Ordinance levying assessments for paving the alley between lOth Avenue ~.:Q and 11th Avenue from Van Buren Street to Tyler Street, in the City of Eugene, Oreg ~~~~ was read the first time and laid over. CQ An Ordinance levying assessments for the paving of Madison Street from the South line of 8th Avenue to the North lin.e of West Broadway, in the City of Eugene Oregon, was read the first time and laid over. Fifty sidewalk assessment ordinances were read the first time and laid over. An Ordinance levying assessments for paving the alley between 8th Avenue and East Bro~dway from High Street to the alley East of High Street, in the City of Eugene, Oregon, was read and passed its second and third readings by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule and was placed upon its final passage. The II ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen present voting aye, nay" none, absent Washburne and Reid. The Ordinance was declared passed, and numbered 7651. An Ordinance levying assessments for the installation of an ornamental stree lighting system on both sides of the following streets: Commencing on lOth Avenue East at the West side of Pearl Street; running thence West to the West side of Charnelton Street; thence North on Charnelton Street to the North line of Broadway; thence East on Broadway to the East line of Olive Street; thence South on Olive Street to and inClUding the lOth Avenue intersection, in the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, was read and passed its second and third readings by unanimous Ii consent under suspension of the rule and was placed upon its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen present voting aye, nay, none, absent Washburne and Reid. The Ordinance was declared passed, and numbered 7652.
