""!"""' ~ Mr. Large" ChaLrman of the Finance Committee, mOlTed that the City Counc.il ~ recommend to the next budget committee the including of $500.00 in the city budget for the purpose of contributing to thef'und. of t,he Lane County Health Association contingent upon the county contributing $1000.00 and. the school district $500.00. The motion was seconded and carried. Chairman Lamb of the Street Committee stated that the City of Cottage GrolTe wanted to purchase some black top from the City of Eugene for street paving pur- poses, and on motion the street committee were authorized to accommodate them wi t,h such ,!uani ty of material as the city can spare at a price that will cover all e:<:penses of the City of Eugene. The ,!uestion of furnace fuel and condition of the furnace for use of wood for hog fuel was referred to Mayor Wilder. A motion was illEl.de, seconded, and carried that the Ci ty take up the cement walk running from the North side of the City Hall to the sidewalk and re.!;llace with lawn. The Recorder advised the Council of an injury sustained by Fay Robertson, daughter of 1~s. R. L. Robertson, caused by falling on defec ti ve sidewalk on tre Cit~l Hall corner.- 'Ehe matter was referred t,o the finance committee. The following resolution was on motion duly adopted: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, pursuant to proceedings of the City of Eugene, Oregon, for the I foreclosure of that certain lien held for the improvement of Franklin Boulevard, by paving the same, as assessed by Ordinance No. 3973 of said City of Eugene, passed by the Common Council of said City on Feb. 25, 1923, and entered in Lien Docke t No. 4 a t page' 263, the hereinafter described real property was sold at public sale on the 22nd day of June, 1929, by the City Treasurer of said City of E'ugene, to the City of Eugene a municipal corporation, and on said date his certi- ficate of sale issued to said City of Eugene, and that the time for redempti on from said sale expired on June 22nd, 1930, and said property was not redeemed from said sale, and a deed to said property was made by said Treasurer of said City of Eugene and said property thereby duly conveyed to said City and said City is now the owner of said property, and V.JHEREAS, Roy L. Dunn and Jose.phine May Dunn were the holders of an e,!uit- able interest in said property, and now offer to purchase said property from said City and to pay to said City the total amount of said lien and interest and penal- tie s accl"uing, aggregating the SUln IOf ~238.92, now therefore be it, RESOLVED, that inconsideration of the sum of ~238.92 tendered to said City by said Roy L.Dunn and Josephine May Dunn, said City be and is hereby author I ized to convey to said parties the said property, and tha t the Mayor and Recorder of said City are hereby authorized and directed to execute said deed to said pI" ope rty . That the property herein l'eferred to and to be sold is as follows, to-wit: Beginning at a point 150 fe e t we s t e r ly of a point on the North line of the County Road, 90 feet North of the center line of the railroad, .on the line between the F. Mclviurry D. L. C. No. 66 and the William Smith D. L. C. On motion it was ordered that the ordinance prohibi ting the constructing, l"e-constructing, replacing or repairing in any material way of gasoline and oil pumps in the streets of Eugene be laid on the table. Twenty-one Sidewalk Assessment Ordinances, havi ng been read the first. time on June 9th, 1930, and l"egistered notices for protest having been sent, and no pro te s ts being recei ved, said ordinances passed their second and third readings by title by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule, llild were placed on their final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all pI'e8en t voting aye, absent none. The Ordinances were declared passed and numbered consecutively from 781~~ to 7833, both numbers inclusive. An Ordinance regulating the ere c ting and main te nance of signs llild banner s over sidewalks and streets and upon buildings and property within the limits of the Ci t.>T of Eugene was read the first time, and passed its second and third read- ings by ti tIe by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule, and was placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen vo t ing aye. The Ordi nance vvas declared passed and numbered 7834. I An Ordinance providing for the construction of a cement sidewalle on the East side of ~ill Street between 17th and 18th Avenues was read the first time, and passe d its second and third read ings by title by unanimous consent under sus- pension of the rule, and was placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all C ounc i Imen va ting aye. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 7835. I Councilman Washburne called attention to the fact that some time ago a req,uest was made to the City Council for the cut ting of the sidewalk for a drive- way to the Hansen property on Olive Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, and that the Council had refused to grant a cut of the width request but that the pl"operty owne I' had made the cut regardless of the City's position and a motion was made, see 0 nd ed, and carried that he be advised to restore the sidewalk and that if not done the City should make the repair and assess the cost against the property. The Laura Traschel damage claim was referred to the finance committee for furthe I' c onsidera t ion. liLr. Robert Fi sche I' of the Fourth of July celebrat ion cornmi ttee extended an invitation to the lIra,yor and Council to participate in the Fourt~ of July parade A motion was made, seconded, and carried directing the Mayor and Recorder, constituting the Official Canvassing Board, tome e t on Tue sday , July 1st, and make the official canvass of the returns of the special election held on June 23rd, 1930.
