The l'eCJ.uest of Carlson, Hatton &; Hay Inc. to cut curb and construct -driveways on the West side of Oak Street bet'ween lOth Avenue ana. alley South was on motion referred to the street comnittee with power to act. .' Ci ty Attorney Calkins sta ted -tha t J\11'. Sharon was complaining about a sidewalk at thE: East side Cleaners location being 4 inches to 6 inches below grade. The 1~tter was referred to the street comnittee.- Chail~man Edwards of the Judiciary Comilli ttee reported on the claini of W. K. Wal.lz:er that it was the opinion of the committee that the act of the City Treasurer in certifying as to liens against portion of Lots 1 and 2 of Bloc]\: Two in Hendrick's Amended Addi tion was a clerical error, and that the Ci ty was not re sponsib Ie and. the claim should be, di sallowed. On motion the ,rec ommenda tion "vas adopted. I'ir. Bdwards also discussed the x'e!J.uest, for sat isfaction of the Ci ty' s judgment against W. T. Campbell, and retul~Yled the matter for consideration of the full council. After some discussion, a motion was made, seconded, and carried that the rnattel~ be laid on the table. fJ . No action was deemed adviseable concerning f'unds of the City involved in the Kountz :Bros. banl(ru})t proceedings. I Mr. ]idwards also recommended tha t the Card Room O_rdina.nce be read a second reading and he laid over for f'urther consideration. As Council member of the Park Board., Hr. EdwaI'ds .r>ecommended that the Ci ty offer a cow elk to the Elk Lodge of Ashland, Ore[;on, for the sum of $60.00; they to recei vet the elk here at that price. Councilman Hendershott of the Finance Committee l'elJorted the following bills to the Council wi th the recoLnmendation that they be allo"vved, and moti on was made and seconded that warrants be dx'awn for the same. Building Inspector's report and Police report for month of January were read and filed. King offerred to pay the City the full amount of liens and interest and taz:es and all court costs in the mattel~ of Lots 23, 24-, and 25 in Block 27 of Fairmount Heights Addition to Eugene, with the understanding that the pending &lit shall proceed to judgment, and the City execute a deed to the mortgagee, represented by Mr. King. Motion was made, seconded, and carried that the City accept this proposal. Mr. E. L. Whisler offerl'ecl to deed his interest in Lot 10, Block 6, Shelton's First Acldi tion to the CitYt including the abstl'act as mw held by him, for the sum Of~250.00. l.Iotion was made and seconded that hi S offer be accepted, and the aye sand :nays \;vere called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. . Recorder presented the request of Stanle;:l Stevenson to pux'chase from the Gi ty the Sou th nine feet of a tract of land on Fairmoullt BIITd., being a part of Lots 5 and 6 in Block 30, Fairmount; ].11". Stevenson agreeing to pay 9/60th of the entire assessments and taxes and interest, constituting the investment of the Ci ty in said tract. The amount of said portion to be paid by 1\11'. Stevenson is $96.38. The motion was marIe, seconded, and carried that the proposal be accepted, and that the Mayor and Recordel~ be and are authorized to execute a deed for this property. 1 The claim of Mrs. Lizzie Carter for $2,000.00 damages for alleged personal injuries, by reason of a fall on the siclewall{ at the LJortheast corner of 11th and Oak Streets as presented to the Council by communication of Fred E. Smith, Attorney, was referred to the Judiciary Committee and City Attorney. The Eugene Building Congress by Earl M.
