M., March 28th. 1932. Council was called to order by Mayor E. . Large with all councilmen present. :: ~,"' (9, ~~, 1'Lr. A.. G. Brauer complained to the council about the manner in which the men employed by the Water Board had t.rimmed the trees in front of his property. Mr. C. H. Fowler stated that his stop street signs had been installed for some time, and if the counci 1 regarded them wi th favor, he would be glad to receive 'an order for installation of other signs. . Chairman Hendershott of the Finance Committee recommended that the Record er advertise for bids to audi t the books for 1931. On motion, it was so ordered. Chairman Zumwalt of the Health Committee recommended that the old barn on the city lot East of the Edison School be torn down, and on motion the Health Commi ttee was authori zed to di spose of thi s building accordi ng to their judgment. The application of Louise E. Strait for a rooming house permit at 88 West 8th Street was returned by the Chief of Police without his approval. Motion was made, seconded, and carried tha t the application be laid on the table. The Judiciary Committee and City Attorney reported adversely on the request of the people of Oakridge to license an illnbulance in the name of the City of Eugene, and the report was on motion approved. The City Attorney recommended, in regard to the application of Mr. Morse for a partial foreclosure against property at 11th and Almaden Sts., that the foreclosure should be made when and if of benefit to the City of Eugene. The report was filed. City Attorney Ca~kins recommended that the excess payment of $27.10 against a part of Lot 2 in Block 24 Fairmount Addition, originally 'paid by Ray Jewel, and this property is now owned by Clara Beitel, and that said sum be paid to her by the Treasurer out of the Improvement Bond Sinking Fund. Motion was made and seconded to adopt the\,report, and the ayes and nays were called, all council- me n voting aye, nay, none. . Recorder reported that he had purchased at the Sheriff's Tax Sale of 1~rc 26th a number of pieces of property, to which the Ci ty holds ti tIe, and on motion this proceeding was approved, and Recorder authorized to draw on the revo~ving fund to pay for the deeds when turned over by the Sheriff. Applications of the Union Service Stations Inc. to install a 2800 gallon gasoline tank on Lot 7, Block 17, at the corner of 11th and Willamette Streets, was referred to the Fire and Water Committee. 1~yor Large requested the Judiciary and Fire and Water Committees to act with the City Attorney in preparing a general ordinance regulating installation of gasoline storage tanks. An Ordinance providing for the form and denominations of $3500.00 Sewer Bonds, 1926, of the City of Eugene, was read the first time, and passed its second and third readings by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule and was placed upon its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen vot~ ing aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8288. :Motion was made, seconded, and carried instru'cting the Mayor and Recorder to accept from the Eugene Sand and Gravel Company a deed to the property at the outlet of the trunk sewer, upon approval of the City Attorney, and to deliver in exchange and as the purchase price thereof to said Company the $3500.00 Sewer Bond , 1,.926; It also being understood that said company is to 'pay the City the sum of ;;!l50.00 for abstract title insurance. j I The bill of the Associated International Detectives, W. L. Priest, Manage, was presented f(!])r payment, endorsed by all three members of the Police Committee and O. K.' d by Counci lmen Hendersho tt and Zumwal t of the Finance Commi ttee. Motio was made and seconded that the bill be allowed and the Recorder ins truc ted to draw a warrant for $200.00 to the Associated International Detectives and ~20.00 to Geo. A. Simon, to be drawn on the general fund and charged to the emergency accoun of the Police Dept., the total sum of $220.00 to be in full settlement of the account. The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. . Two sidewall\: assessme'nt ordinances, having been read the first time on :March 14th, 1932, and registered notices for protests having been sent, are read the second time and objections called for and none heard, and on motion the ordin- ances were read the third time under suspension of the rule and were placed on their final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen voting aye, nay, none.
