Chairman }j;ond of the Fire and Water Commi ttee reported that the pulmotor
used by the Fire Department for many years was out of condition, and also that
1 the pulmotor was n:ot recognized by modern science as effective in saving lives. '..,.lo.
The consensus of o~inion was that the City should abandon its pulmotor, and the ,.;",~
Fire and Water Co~ittee were requested to see if arrang~ments can be made with /~j
the Water Board for the Fire Department to use one of their inhalators for emer- ~ ..-
gency cases.

. A model Ddg Ordinance, submi tted by L. Bonney, was read and filed by
reason that the Cilty has no authority under the present State law.

A,petition of H. G. Openshaw to make Willamette Street at 5th Avenue a I
I through street was' on motion laid on the table.
A Sidewalk Improvement Ordinance to construct a cement sidewalk on the
West side of Polk !Street between 8th Avenue and West Broadway was read the first
tim~, and ,passed ~ts second and third readings by unanimous conf?f:mt under sus-
pension of the ru~e and was placed upon its final passage. The ayes and' nays
were,ca.lled, all Qr~sent voting aye, nay, none',absent Reid and Zumwalt. The
Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8294.

vertising in streets, parkings, sidewalks and public places was read the first
time, and passed i;ts second and third readings by unanimous consent under sus-
pension of the rule and was placed upon its final passage. The aye s and nays
