The Health Committee reported receipt of the pe ti. ti on for removal of an old build.ing a.t 1432 Villard Street, and Chairman Zumwalt moved that the Oi ty Attorney be, instructed to prepare the necessary proceedings for its ,condemnation. The mo ti on was seconded and carried. At torney Calkins advi sed the Counci 1 that the suit of the Sure ty Company agai ns t the United States National Bank, will ch 1'elat ed to tihe liab ili ty in handl- ing of warrants issued to Geo. Read, Cant rac to r, some years ago, had been deci ded in the Circuit Court in favor of the Bank. At thi s time Councilman Reid appeared in Council. ., Application of C. G. Brovvn to operate a rooming house at 667 Willamette Street and approved by Chief Bergman was on motion granted. Reports of Police Dept., Building Inspe c to l' , ancl Fire Dep t. fo l' the month of September were read and placed on file. Recorder called attention of the City Officials to the meeting of the League of Oregon Cities at eondon Hall at the U~iversity of Oregon on October 13th and 14th. An Ordinance reassessing the cost of constructing' a oement sidewalk on the East side of Charnelton Street between 17th Street and the alley in the City of Eugene, Oregon, abut.ting upon the North 41t feet of t,he flest half of Lot 4, Block 16, Hend,rick' s Amended Addi ti on to the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, I and the West half of Lot 4, and the Harth 23 feet of the West half of Lot 5, all in Block 16, of Hendrick's Amended Addition to the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, except the North 41t feet of the west half of Lot 4 in said Block, and I fixing a time and place for the hearing of objections and directing the giving of notices was read the first time, and passed its second and third readings by un- animous consent under suspension of the rule and was placed upon its final passage The ayes and nays were called, all present voting ayet nay, none. The Ordinance was_ declared pas<sed and numbered 8314. < The Ordinanoe prohibiting the keeping of bees within the City of Eugene was called for' di scussion and remarksl11ade by Councilman ZUffiVilalt and ci tizens, 1'Lr.
