Council was called to order by Ma.vol' Elisha Large, wi th all Councilmen present except I-/Ir. Scobel"t. .' Chairman Hendershott, of the Finance Committee, reported the purchase f~om Smith, Camp and Riley of a ;J;lOOO.OO City of Eugene Refunding Bond, due Decembe~ 1, 1936, for the sum of ~950.00 and accrued interest, and that the same had been received and paid for by the City Treasurer. On an aye and nay vote the action received the unanimous app~oval of the Council. Application of 11rs. Irene Anderson for a Hotel permit at 32t West Eighth Avenue, approved by Chief Bergman, was ordered granted. Application of liowa~d C. Ackerman for General Retailer's License, ~eported favorably by tihe Police Committee, wason motion granted. Indorsements to City Treasurer Wentworth's Bonds Nos. 7169748 and 7169749, originally issued by the now insolvent National Surety Company, whereby the National Surety Coppo~ation assumed liability for the remainder of the Bond period, were on motion accepted. Reports of the Chairman of the Health Committee, City Attorney, and Chief of Police, that buildings at 557 7th Avenue West, and 551 8th Avenue West should not be conderrmed, were .presented, and on fnotion adopted. , Rec order was ins truc ted to no t ify Hr. H. S. J3arl{e I' tha t the barn at 654 7th Avenue V1est is considered danf;erous and that it should be removed. I A communication from the Oregon State Game Commission urging the City to take some action toward the construction of a sewage disposal plant for the protection 0:( the VIillamette River, was read, and the Hayor advised that the Ci ty Engineer has already gone forward with plans, and that the request has been made for the Reconstruction Finance Corporation's assistance. The Judiciary Committee recommended that the request of the Eurene Home Appliance ~Company for a refund of ~p15 .00, paid for Elec trical Li cense, be granted, and a mot ion was made, and seconded that the report be adopted, and the Hecorde~ draw a warrant on the ~eneral Fund for said SUfi. The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye, 7, nay, none, absent Scobert. , Councilman Edwal'ds of the Pax'k Board rej)orted tha t the,;r had rece i ved a proposal to sell the City two wild cats at ~3.00 each, and a cage for $6.00. On motion, seconded and carried, the offer was rejected. .' An Ordinance levying assessments for the construction of a cement sidewalk on the East side of Orchard Street between 15th 0nd 17th Avenues in the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, was read, and due notices for the hearing of object- ions having beeIl given, objections were called for and lvII's. Elsensohn presented her objection to the passage of this assessment, and after discussion a motion was made, seconded and carried that the objection be denied; whereupon yhe Ordinance passed its second and third readings by title under suspenSion of the ~ule by unanimous consent of the Council, and was placed upon its final passage. S. Army for a Camp site in Riverview Park of 170 X 320 feet, to be used for a period of six months as a headquarters camp in connection with the l"eforestration progJ::'am. MO,tion. was made, seconded and carried, granting this camping request. Upon recommendation it wa's also, on motion, ordered that under 'ltp.e direetion of the City Engineer the old City Hall Fire bell be set in concrete as a public relic, and tha t a flag pole be procured 1'01:' Ci ty Jm~"ooses. 6- On motion the Council adjourned. - R.
