l Minutes of the regular meeting of June 12, 1933, and the adjourned meeting of
June 26th were read and approved.

A request of W. N. Keena to install a gas pump at the curb at 1545 West 11th
Avenue, was referred to the Fire and Water Committee.
Mr. Baily of the Anchorage Swimming Pool reported that samples of water from
I the MuniCipal Swimming Pool had been analyzed by the Health Board showing a high
percent of B.-Coli. Councilman Zumwalt moved that the Recorder request the Board
of Health to make an examination of the water conditions of the swimming pool in .:
the City, and also that the City Health Officer be requested to report on these
condi tions.
I The Judiciary Committee and City Attorney reported that the Electrical
i Ordinance was in form for passage by the Council, but that it should be read and
I an opportunity given to dealers to examine it before passage.

The Judiciary Committee expressed a favorable attitude toward the receiving
I of City Bonds in payment of delinquent assessments, and asked that the matter be
referred back to them, and the Finance Committee, City Attorney, and Recorder
I draft an ordinance for the next Council meeting.
I Chairman Hendershott of the Finance Committee reported the following bills to

the Council with recommendation that they be allowed, and motion was made ,and
l seconded that warrants be drawn for same. The ayes and nays were called, all
Councilmen present voting aye, nay none, absent Scobert. .

The following resolution was presented by Chairman Hendershott of the Finance
Committee and moved its ado:pt.ton by the Council. On motion seconded and carl'ied,
the resolution wa~ adopted as follows:
RESOLUTION
.~ BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Eugene that the City
Treasurer be and he is hereby directed and authorized to invest funds of
the general bond sinking fund in any warrants issued for the paylf,lent of
general bond interest, and to hold the same until such time as they are
redeemed by tax money received and ap:plied thereto.

The Finance Committee presented an old bill for water for the public fountain
at 8th and Oak Streets" and the opinion,was expressed that the Oounty Court.was
considering arrangements to take care of this account, and for the metering of
water to this fountain. No action was taken on this bill.
On recommendation of the Police Committee, applications of the Eugene Fruit
I Grower's'Association for a Wholesale Beverage License, the Wholesale Beverage
Distributing Company for Wholesale and Package licenses, and of H. N. Millard and
Duckworth and Bettis for the transfer of the Cosmo Beer license from the former to
the latter, were on motion ordered' granted.
Reports of the City Health Officer, Police Department, City Engineer, Library,
and Fire Department were placed on file.
The Recorder adv isad the C'ounc il of the service of Summons upon the City in
the Foreclosure Suit of Rose B. Shelley, vs. Edith Halderson Whipps, R. M. Vfuipps,
her huspand, and the Ci ty.
An Ordinance to be known as the Electrical Code for the City of Eugene, O~egon;
providing for licenses; definhng approved electrical materials and appliances,
prohibiting the sale 01.' use of unapproved appliances and materials, providing a
penalty fqr.violation hereof, repealing Ordinance No. ____ and all ordinances or
pa~ts of ordinances in conflict herewith, was read the first time and laid over.
. An Ordinance levying assessments for the opening of 17th Avenue West from
Lawrence Street to the East line of Hollenbeck's Addition to Eugene, Lane County,
Oregon, was read the first time, and objections to the :passage were called for and
none heard, whereupon the ordinance passed its second and third readings by title
under suspension of the rule by unanimous consent of the Council, and was placed
upon its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye 6,
nay none; absent Lamb, who was excused from the Council, and Councilman Seabert.
The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8339.
An Ordinance le vying asse ssment s for the constructi on of a sewer between
Lawrence Street and Washington Street from 14th Avenue to 15th Avenue, in the City
of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, was read the first time, and objections to the
passage were called for and none heard, whereupon the ordinance passed its second
and .tb,ird readings by title under suspension of the .rule by unanimous consent of
the Council, and was placed upon its final passage. The ayes and nays were called,
Councilmen voting aye 6, nay none, absent Lamb and Scobert. The Ordinance was
I declared passed and numbered 8340.
An Ordinance declaring the intention of the Common Council of the City of
Eugene to make a reassessment of the cost of paving Seventeenth Avenue from
Willamette Street to Jefferson Street, in the Ci ty of Eugene, as the same abuts the
properties hereinafter described, and fixing a time and place for holding a meeting
of the Common Council at which all protests against such reassessment shall be
heard, and directing the giving of notices, was read the first time and passed its
second and third readings under suspension of the rule by unanimous consent of the
Council, and was placed upon its final passage. The ayes and nays were called,
Councilmen voting aye 6, nay none, absent Lamb and Scobert. The Ordinance was

, Councilman ,Hendershott proposed a resolution congl'atulating the Fourth of July
I Committee for the successful celebration, and thanking them for the sel'vice l'endered
the City, which l'esolution was, on motion, adopted.
t City Engineer, Clubb, suggested a new schedule of fees for building pel'mits,
'and ~as directed to bring in an ordinance for this purpose.
Chariman Simon, of the Police Committee, recommended that they tl'adg in the
Police Studebaker Roadster, and pay a cash difference of $600.00 on the purchase of
l'a Chevrolet car for the Police Depal'tment. On motion seconded and carried the
recommendation was adopted.
On motion the Council adjourned to meet July 24, 1933, at 7:30 o'clock P.M~
