Chairman Hendershott of the Finance Committee reported the following bills I to the Council with a recommendation that they be allowed, and motion was made, I seconded and carried that warrants be drawn for same. I II Monthly reports of the Fire Department, Police Department, City 11a.tron, and City Engineer were read and placed on file~~ At this time Councilman Reid appeared in Council. .' '-"- - -" - The request of the Salvation Army for a donation from the City, together " . I with a co~nunication from Wayne L. Morse, in charge of the Salvation Army drive ~ for funds, were presented to the Council, and no action was taken. (~ Communication from the Western Box Company asking for some improvement of ~~ First Ave. from Blair Boulevard to the City limits, and suggesting a coat of gravel, was referred to the Street Committee. City Engineer was directed to inspect a condition of the Oregon Electric tracks at Lincoln Street, on account of alleged water standing over the tracks at thi s point. The application of C. Loper for a commercial woodsawing location at 2447 Kincaid Street, approved by Chief Bergman, was on motion granted. Councilman Lamb presented the offer of Marie Williams to sell to the Ci ty t../' a tract of ground immediately South of the city Shops on Lincoln Street, and the --=- . matter was referred to the Street Committee for consideration and report to the Council. A motion was made. and seconded that the Recorder be instructed to draw $50.00 on the Revolving Fund in favor of Johnston and Larson, as part payment on the contract for the demolition of the Gaylord building. The aye s and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye 8, nay none, absent none. A deed from Stena J. Edblom to the City of .Eu.gene, covering the property owned by her on Polk Street from Hellen Street North, was tendered to the City for the sum of $100.00. This being the property taken by the City for opening a road on the East side of the Aviation trac t. A motion was made, seconded and carried that the City accept the deed, and a warrant be drawn to Mrs. Edblom ~or $100.00. The ayes and nays were called, 'Councilmen voting aye 8, nay none, absent none. ,. Mayor Large announced that pursuant to the vote on the measure creating the I City Board of Health, he desired at this time to reappoint all members of the Board now serving. Motion was made, seconded and carried to confirm the appoint- men t .
