NOTICE OF SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING I To the Members of the Common Council of the City of Eugene: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That on this 8th day of Febr~ary, 1941, the Pr~sidentpro-tem, Sam C. Bond President Pro-Tem * * * * * * * * * * * * Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon February 8, 1941 I The council met in special meeting pursuant to the call of Councilman Sam C. Bond, Presidentpro-tem. All councilmen were present with the exception II of Ira O. Stewart. A vacancy existed in the Second Ward because of the recent aeath of Councilman A. A. Reid. ! .. . The meeting was called to order by Councilman Bond who presented Mr. !Earl Drew and Mr. John J. O'Farrell of the W. P. A. Mr. Drew stated the Ilosition pf the W. P. A. in the matter of the improvement and building of the new City of Eugene airport. Mr. Drew pointed out that the federal government was going to build ~he airport and that the agency to build it would be determined by a board at Washington~. C. Mr. Drew stated that the government desired to know from the counci rhether or not the council was willing to sponsor a W.P.A~ project for the improve- ~ent and completion of this airport. He further pointed out that this in no way ~hatsoever was in opposition to the present $250,000.00 grant of CAA. After a hiscussion, participated in by all members of the council and the City Attorney, ~ resolution was presented directing the Mayor and City Recorder to sign and deliver lh.ny documents necessary to indicate that the City of Eugene is willing to sponsor ~ W.P.A. project for the improvement and completion of the area now owned by the ,~ity as an airport site. Motion was made by Councilman Farrington, seconded by Councilman Koppe, and dUly approved, unanimously adopting the resolution and it ~as so ordered. The Recorder was then instructed to mail three copies of the resolution to E. J. Griffith, State W.P.A. Administrator, 1201 Bedell Building, Portland and it was so ordered. I R!SOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Eugene that the Mayor and City Recorder be and they are hereby directed to sign and deliver any documents necessary to indicate that the City of Eugene sponsors or is willing to sponsor a W.P.A. project for the improvement and completion of the area of approximately nine hundred acres of land acquired and now owned by the city as an airport site in Sections Five (5) and Six (6), Township Seventeen (17) South of Range Four (4) West: of the Willamette Meridian, Lane County, Ore~on.
