The meeting was called to order by Mayor Larget and all councilmen
were present with the exception of Stewart And Brownson.
Mr. J. R. Dyer, Attorney for the United Airlines, was present and
Mayor Large asked him to state the differences in a contract which had been
drawn during the day at Attorney Calkins office, and the contract that had been
proposed SOll1e two or three months ago., Mr. Dyer explained tha t on account of
the revetments constructed by the arnw on the airport, it w.as necessary to move
the location of the United Airlines Administration Building. Mr. Dyer also
explained that on account of the new location of the building they would need
a new access road and a loading ramp. In the previous contract the City had
agreed to furnish these facilities on account of having had assurance from the
C.A.A. that they would furnish the.se for the City. Since the change in location
of the Administration building it was not clBar whether the C.A.A. might be
willing to furnish these facilities and in the new contract this had been deleted,
the United Airlines assuming the responsibility for these. He also stated that
the length of the Lease had been increased to twenty years; that the date on which
the rental paid by the United Airlines to the City in the new contract was as of
April 1, 1942. After some little discussion by the council a resolution was
read authorizing the Mayor and Recorder to enter into this contract with the
United Airlines. A motion by Hawn and seconded by Bond that the Fesolution be
adopted, was carried.
