"~ Eugene, held purauant to sec 95-901 O.C.L.A. An election having been held known as the Westmoreland Annexation election , I I on December 20, 1944 and the statute having provided that the Common Council I I shall meet on Monday, next succeeding the day of such election at 1 o'clock p.m. and proceed to canvass the votes cast thereat, and' Whereas, the Monday next succeeding the election was Christmas Day, and i ! a holiday and no quorom of the Council could be obtained, Therefore, I A meeting of the Common Council was held on Tuesday, December 26, 1944 at i I 1 o'clock p.m. that being the first business day after Monday, December 25, 1944 I ! to canvass the votes of the westmoreland Annexation Election. I i Councilmen present were A. C. Farrington, Louis Koppe~ E. A. Barette, Ira O. Stewart, Edward F. Bailey, A. ~. Hawn, and W. L. Davis. Councilman absent, Calvin Crumbaker. Councilman Farrington, the pres~dent of the Council"presided. The Council then proceeded first to canvass the votes cast in Westmoreland ! precinct and next proceeded to count the votes in the City of Eugene both as td I i I Westmoreland precinct and as to the annexation of the Old City Airpor~. I I The canvass of the tally sheets showed the following results, to-wit: . Votes cast in the Wes~morelagdhDistrict, Yes l3J:, No, 117 Majority for 14. Votes cast in the City of Eugene: Yes No Yes No ,- - - - First Ward, Roosevelt School, for Westmoreland Territory 71 6 n " " " , for Old City Airport 70 5 i I Second Ward, Washington School, for Westmoreland Territory 32 4 " " " " , for Old City Airport ' 31 2 I " Third Ward, Vocational School, for Westmoreland Territory 28 6 " " " " for Old City Airport 28 6 , Fourth Ward at Frances Willard School, for Westmoreland Territory 46 17 " " " for Old City Airport ~1L- , - - 177 33 174 29 Majority in the City 144 14p Thereupon a motion was made by Councilman Hawn and seconded by Councilman Koppe that the Westmoreland Territory and the Old City Airport be declared i annexed and that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the proper resolu- tion and that the results be transmitted to the Secretary of State. On vote I the motion was unanimously carried. ,. It was moved, seconded and carried that the Mayor and Recorder pro tern sign the canvass of election returns 'on behalf of the Common Council.
