March 22, 1966
A special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called to order at
4:00 p.m. on March 22, 1966 in the Council Chamber by His Honor Mayor Edwin E. Cone with the
following councilmen present: Mrs. Lauris, Messrs. Chatt, Crakes, Anderson, and Lassen.
Councilmen Hawk, Purdy, and McNutt were absent.
Resolution No. 1285 - Authorizing Charter amendment on May 24, 1966 primary ballot providing for
issuance of $15,000,000 revenue bonds and appointment of Treasurer for
Eugene Water & Electric Board - was submitted and read in full.

Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Crakes to adopt the resolution.
Guy Rogers was recognized and voiced a very vigorous protest against the proposal of the Eugene
Water & Electric Board and the operation of the utility in general. Cal Smith, chairman of the
Board, spoke a few words in rebuttal.
A vote was taken on the motion to adopt the resolution, and motion carried.

Upon motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
