INTERVIEWS FOR DOWNTOWN COMMISSION
COUNCILORS PRESENT: Brian Obie, Freeman Holmer, John Ball, Cindy Wooten, Dick
Hansen, Emily Schue, and Betty Smith.
The special meeting of the Eugene City Council began at 7:05 p.m. with the
council interviewing the following person:
Linda Devine
Following the interview, the council discussed how to proceed since Ada Lee had
withdrawn her application from consideration. It was suggested that the council
re-advertise and take the responsibility for seeking candidates. Council acknow-
ledged that Linda Devine would be considered again when the decision on whom to
appoint is made. Discussion followed.
Councilor Smith moved, seconded by Councilor Hansen, that the council re-adver-
tise the position for 30 days and that the council members take responsibility
for seeking candidates for the Downtown Commission position.
Discussion followed on the appropriate length of time to advertise.
Councilor Holmer moved, seconded by Councilor Hansen, to amend the motion from
30 days to two weeks.
The motion carried 5:2, with Councilor Smith, Hansen, Obie, Wooten, and Holmer
voting aye, and Councilors Ball and Schue voting nay.
The meeting was adjourned to the City Council meeting in the Council Chamber at
7:25 p.m.
