PRESENT: Councilors Obie, Ehrman, Schue, Bascom, Holmer, Hansen,
and Wooten; Candidates Jim Ellison, Gerry Gaydos, Otto
Glausi, John Potter, Hugh Prichard, and John Van Landingham;

The following people were interviewed:

Councilor.Hansen moved, seconded by Ehrman, to appoint the following
to the Planning Commission, per the balloting:

~ Jim Ellison, 1286 Piper Lane, Eugene, to a term ending 1/01/89;
Hugh Prichard, 2671 Emerald, Eugene, to a term ending 1/01/89;
, ~ Gerry Gaydos, 2227 Fairmount, Eugene, to a term ending 1/01/88,
~ with the stipulation that Mr. Gaydos resign from his position
on MAPAC.
Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously, 7:0.
INTERVIEWS AND BALLOTING FOR DOWNTOWN COMMISSION
The following people were interviewed:
7:00 p.m. Don Genasci
7:10 p.m. James McCoy
7:20 p.m. Roger Neustadter
7:30 p.m. Jeff Reingold
The candidates were asked a series of questions by members of the
Council. Following the interviews, each councilor had the opportunity
to state his or her views regarding the needs of the Commission, the
challenges posed by its work program, and the qualifications of the
respective candidates.
Following that discussion, Councilor Holmer moved, seconded by
Councilor Schue, that the three incumbent candidates (i .e., Genasci,
McCoy, and Neustadter) each be appointed to serve an additional term,
ending 12/30/88. Further discussion ensued. The motion passed

The Council briefly discussed the need for more frequent and improved
communications between the Council and its various advisory boards
and commissions. The group agreed to discuss that concern and to
explore some options in that reqard during the upcoming Council
process session in January, 1985.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:05 p.m.
