Executive Session/Work Session
McNutt Room—Eugene City Hall
July 25, 2006
1:30 p.m.
COUNCILORS PRESENT: Jennifer Solomon, Andrea Ortiz, Bonny Bettman, David Kelly, Gary
Papé, George Poling, Chris Pryor, Betty Taylor.
A. EXECUTIVE SESSION
The council met in executive session in accordance with Oregon Revised Statute 192.660(2)(a).
B. WORK SESSION: Police Auditor
Her Honor Mayor Kitty Piercy called the Eugene City Council into regular session at 5:30 p.m.
Ms. Solomon, seconded by Ms. Ortiz, moved to initiate a background and reference check
on Cristina Beamud.
Mr. Kelly said the pool of applicants was great and Ms. Beamud had a solid background. He suggested that
those doing the site visit consider the areas for further research identified by the community panel.
Mayor Piercy said the council was lucky to have a good pool of candidates and that the candidate selected to
move forward in the process was experienced. She concurred with Mr. Kelly’s suggestion.
Mr. Papé expressed thanks to the community panel for its input. He also thanked consultant Gary Blackmer
for his assistance, perspective, and expertise.
Mr. Poling indicated he would not be able to support the motion but would support the majority decision of
the council in regard to the selected candidate.
The motion passed, 5:3; Ms. Solomon, Mr. Poling, and Mr. Pryor voting no.
The meeting adjourned at 5:39 p.m.
