HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 19941ORDINANCE NO. 19941 AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING CITY BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTEES; AND AMENDING SECTIONS 2.013 AND 2.280 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1911. THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subsection ~2} of Section 2.280 of the Eugene Code, 1911, is amended to provide: 2.280 Human Ri,g,h,ts Commi ssi,,,on -,,,,.Comm,,ttees. ~2} ,The Committee on Discrimination and Harassment, Committee on Commune ty Educate an and Outreach and Committee on Accessibility, hereinafter referred to as the "standing committees" are hereby created. ~a} Each committee shall have ten members who shall serve three year terms. The commission shall appoint five members of the commission and five citizens to each committee. No member of the commission may serve an more than one standing comrni ttee. ~ b} Vacant pas i t i ons on a stand i ng cammi ttee shall be f i 11 ed by appointment by the commission. A position shall be considered vacant under the same conditions as set forth for a vacancy on the commission, ~c} The officers of each standing committee shall be a chairperson and a vice-chair elected by the committee. The chap rperson shall preside over meetings of the committee and shat l have the right to vote. The vice-chair shall perform the duties of the chairperson i n the absence or disability of the chairperson. The officers shall serve for terms of one year. Ordinance - 3 ~d} Each standing committee shat 1 meet at 1 east nine times a year, with such additional meetings as i t deems necessary to properly perform its duties. fie} Each standing committee may make and alter rules for its conduct and procedure, providing they are consistent with state 1 aw and applicable provisions of the city charter, ordinances and policies. ~ f } Fifty percent plus one of the current membership of a comma ttee shall consti tute a quorum. Section 2. The City Recorder, at the request of, or with the concurrence of the City Attorney, is authorized to administratively correct any reference errors contained herein or in other provisions of the Eugene Code, 1971, to the provisions added, amended, or repealed herein.
