AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING DIGS AND SKATEBOARDS; AD~DI~NG
SECTION 4.427 To T~ EUGENE CODE, 1971; AMENDING SECTIaN
5.450 of THAT CODE ; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY .
THE CITY OF EUGENE DDES ORDAIN AS FQLLOWS:
Section l . Anew Section 4.427 is added to the Eugene Code, 1971, to
provide:
4.427 Doas -Certain Areas Prohibited.
(1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, no dog
owner sha 11 permi t a dog to be on Alder Street , i ncl udi n~g the s i dewa 1 ks thereof ,
between and including the southern sidewalk of East 12th Avenue and the northern
sidewalk of East 14th Avenue, nor on East 13th Avenue, including the sidewalks
thereof , between and including the eastern sidewalk of Ferry Street and the
eastern s i dewa 1 k of Kincaid Street .
(2) The prohibition of subsection (1) of this section does not
apply to a dog owner who mai ntai ns a 1 awful residence wi thi n the restricted area ,
to a dog ass?sting 1 aw enforcement personnel , to a dog assi sti ng a handi capped
person, or to a dog i nsi de a motori zed vehicle.
Section 2. Subsection ~2} of Section 5.450 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is
amended by adding a new subparagraph (e) thereto, to provide:
5.450 Skateboards .
(2) No person shall ride a skateboard:
(e) On Alder Street, including the sidewalks thereof,
between and including the southern sidewalk of East 12th Avenue and
the northern sidewalk of East 14th Avenue, nor on East 13th Avenue,

including the sidewalks thereof , between and including the eastern
sidewalk of Ferry Street and the eastern si dewa1 k of Kincaid Street.
Section 3 . The City Recorder , at the request of , or with the concurrence
of the City Attorney, may administratively correct any reference errors contained
herein or i n other pravi si ons of the Eugene Code, 1971 to the provision amended
herein.
Section 4. That the matters contained herein concern the public welfare
and safety, and therefore, an emergency i s hereby declared to exist, and thi s
Ordinance shal 1 become effecti ve i mmedi ately upon its passage by the City Counci 1
and approval by the Mayor, retention by the Mayor for more than ten days, or
readoption over a Mayoral veto by two thirds of al 1 members of the City Council .
