Public Comments Invited on Proposed EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant
On Wednesday, November 30, City of Eugene and LCOG staff will hold a drop-in session to gather
comments and answer questions regarding a potential US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Brownfields Assessment Grant application. The session will run from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Atrium Building’s

Saul Room (99 W. 10 Avenue, 3 floor).
If applied for and received, the $200,000 grant from the EPA would be used to conduct a brownfields
assessment of the industrial and commercial zoned properties of the West Eugene industrial area. The
target area would include the West Eugene Enterprise Zone and adjoining rail yards, which encompasses
a majority of the industrially zoned area within Eugene. The grant application must be submitted no later
than December 14, 2005. If awarded, the work would begin in Fall 2006 and conclude in Fall 2008. The
grant is expected to be the first step in a process to support economic, environmental, and social vitality
within the West Eugene industrial area.
The public comment period for the proposed EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant will begin Wednesday,
November 23, and continue through Thursday, December 1. A draft of the application will be available
starting November 23 at the following locations:
