A RESOLUTION TO OPPOSE THE NOVEMBER 2000 GENERAL ELECTION
BALLOT MEASURE 93 BY THE EUGENE CITY COUNCIL.
WHEREAS Ballot Measure 93 amends the State Constitution to require voters to
approve most taxes, and requires certain approval percentages, and
WHEREAS the result of Ballot Measure 93 requires citizens to vote on any fee increase,
and if any fee increase passed by the city since December 6, 1998, is not retroactively approved,
the city may have to refund those fees to the payer of the same, and
WHEREAS the effect of this measure may reduce Eugene's ability to provide the level of
services expected by its citizens,
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, A Municipal
Corporation of the State of Oregon, that the Council does hereby go on record as opposing Ballot
Measure 93 and encourages other government bodies and citizens to do the same.
The foregoing resolution adopted this 10th day of October, 2000.
