ISSUE STATEMENT
This is a work session for the Council to meet with staff and complete the process details for the police
auditor interviews. Staff will be meeting with the council to finalize interview dates, community panel
participants, stakeholder panel participants, and other process elements. In addition, the council may go
into executive session to approve finalized interview questions and other interview process components.
BACKGROUND
The position of police auditor has been vacant since August 22, 2008. The application deadline for this
recruitment was December 8, 2008. The Executive Recruiter from Alliance Resource Consulting, Eric
Middleton, met with the council during the January 14 work session to present the candidate pool and
receive direction from the council regarding which candidates they would like to move forward to the
interview process.
RELATED CITY POLICIES
This item is not directly related to a City policy. However, the hiring of a police auditor relates to the
council values of a “Safe Community” and “Effective, Accountable Municipal Government.”
COUNCIL OPTIONS
The council may:

Select interview dates for the process, finalize a list of community panel members they would like
invited, approve or amend a list of stakeholder panel members/organizations, approve or amend
the interview questions, approve a venue for the interview process, and direct staff and Alliance
Resource Consulting to make the appropriate arrangements for the interviews.
